Lauren Vegter was a Sloan Management Science and Operations Research student from Albany, New York. As one of the founding members of MIT International Development Consulting, she focused on the long-term team and service offerings development as the Director of Strategy. Lauren was first inspired by the developing world when she lived in Ecuador in 2007, and she became passionate about consulting during a summer internship at Booz Allen Hamilton and through her studies at MIT. She enjoyed working for MIT IDC because it combines both of these interests: her passion for solving problems and her desire to aid the developing world.

Grace Liao was chemical engineering student at MIT and an American citizen who grew up in Taiwan. Growing up she has traveled to countries of very different social conditions, and through these experiences developed an awareness and interest in international development. By participating in IDC, she combined her passion for engineering and international development and hoped to improve the conditions she has witnessed in her travels to developing countries. As the Director of Internal Affairs, she was responsible for coordinating the executive team, corresponding with and assisting the Director of Strategy (Lauren Vegter).

Benjamin Mensah was a student double-majoring in Economics and Management Science from Harlem, NY. Inspired by the work ethic and perseverance of his grandparents, who emigrated from Ghana, he is determined to help develop and cultivate the potential of the countries in Africa. He believes that through increased educational awareness and business literacy the countries in Africa can strengthen their position in the global community. As Regional director of Africa, he focused on establishing meaningful relationships with institutions and individuals to help facilitate the positive growth trends of Africa's developing nations.

Juan Diaz majored in Mechanical Engineering. He was born in Colombia and has lived in Miramar, Florida for the past 9 years. As a founding member of MIT IDC and the Regional Director of the Americas, Juan oversaw all the projects and relations throughout the Americas. He has vast experience in the region; most recently, he designed and implemented an engineering-intensive workshop educational series for teens in Asuncion, Paraguay. Juan joined MIT IDC because he is passionate about international development and wishes to explore the opportunities in these emerging economies.

Javier Hernandez majored Engineering at MIT. He was born in the United States but lived in Mexico for the first 7 years of his life. Javier served as the Regional Director of Asia for IDC, overseeing and forming collaborations with partners in countries such as India, China, and Thailand. Javier has vast experience in Asia, having spent two summers interning in China, as well as offering his business and engineering background to an IDC client, Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust, in Mumbai, India. Javier joined MIT IDC in order to further cultivate his passion for helping developing nations as well as to use his experience in consulting and entrepreneurship, all things which are at the roots of what IDC is built on..

Rena Kuai majored in Architecture and minored in Marketing. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Northern Virginia. As the Director of Marketing, she was responsible for maintaining and designing all the brochures and publicity material for MIT International Development Consulting. She is passionate about helping out those living in Third World Countries and hopes to one day improve the education system and quality of living in China.

Victoria Lo double majored in Management and Political Science from Seattle, WA. As the Director of Marketing, she worked on publicity materials, grants, and assisted Wendy with corporate sponsorship efforts. In the past, she started a non-profit program encouraging disadvantaged youth to pursue the STEM fields. Victoria has worked in marketing operations at IBM, in wealth management at UBS, and most recently in investment banking at J.P. Morgan. MIT IDC is in line with her long-term goal: to apply business knowledge towards improving the efficiency of NGOs and NPOs.

Andre Thomas was a Chemical Engineering student from Kingston, Jamaica. He served MIT IDC dually as the Director of Web Design and as our team's Treasurer. Andre is passionate about his home country and sees the great development potential of Jamaica; he joined MIT IDC to gain experience in international development and share best practices between his country and the world.

Steven Wu was born in Shanghai, China and raised in St. Joseph, Michigan, Steve was a student studying economics and mathematics. As Director of External Relations, he was responsible for developing an innovative corporate sponsorship program, overseeing the organization's fundraising efforts, and strengthening relations with alumni and contacts outside of those currently located at MIT. Steve joined MIT IDC to learn and become more active in the areas of development consulting. Steve was also involved with the MIT VentureShips program, a student-run organization that seeks start-up company projects for students enthusiastic about entrepreneurship and business. One summer, Steve worked as an intern at Accenture in Bangalore, India. He was excited to be working alongside several team members who share passions in problem solving and development consulting.

Janet Lin is a Chemical Engineering student at MIT. She has always had a strong desire to help others and was involved in various local service projects in her hometown in Pennsylvania. Now in college and a part of IDC, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to work in international development and make a global impact. Specifically, she hopes to better the lives of children to ensure they have food, shelter, and education. |
Li Ying Wu is double-majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Management Science. Li Ying was born in China and later moved to Chicago, Illinois. Having lived in china for seven years inspired Li Ying to help underprivileged communities around the world. Li Ying became interested in management consulting after witnessing the costly and timely consequences resulting from incompetent management and communication while working at her community center. As the Regional Director of Asia, Li Ying seeks collaboration from nonprofit organizations and oversees projects in Asian countries. |
David Tse is a Materials Science Major from Bronx, New York. During the spring of 2010, David joined IDC as the Regional Director of Americas. He grew interested in alleviating economic disparities after participating in service projects in Brazil (on a fellowship) in the summer of 2008. Enjoying the challenge of finding creative solutions to issues in Latin America, David is excited from lasting relationships with NGOs with the support of MIT IDC. |
Zara L'Heureux is a Junior at MIT majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering and minoring in Economics and Linguistics. She joined the IDC Team as the Regional Director of Africa and is passionate about the many opportunities to connect with the people, culture, communities, and NGOs there. Her goals in life are to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with God. And what better way to do this than by serving others!

Ting Mao is an economics major. She has founded MIT Fighting World Hunger, and has a great interest in social entrepreneurship and international development. She believes IDC can make a huge impact beyond MIT campus. She is looking forward to forging new connections with both local and global non-profit organizations and social enterprises.

Srikanth Bolla is a third year student majoring in management science and concentrating in economics. Srikanth likes to contribute to international development and this passion inspired him to join MIT international development club as the director of fund raising. At IDC, Srikanth is responsible for fundraising, organizing and coordinating fundraising events. This plays an important role in begin able to allocating funds and design sustainable projects. Srikanth is from a small rural costal village, Sitaramapuram in southern India. Srikanth is outstanding leader, sports man and social entrepreneur. From his early schooling, Srikanth is involved in various community service activities in school. His vision to help Indian youth and there by develop the country made him to join “lead India 2020” the second national youth movement in India which aims to motivate and guide rural youth to achieve their career goals and contribute for national development. Srikanth is a dedicated social entrepreneur who aims to create inclusive society for people with multiple disabilities through Samanvai,a non-profit organization, as one of the main board members. Started by dedicated volunteers active in the field of disability, Samanvai's main vision is to provide individualized, need-based, and goal-oriented support services for students with multiple disabilities in order to elevate their functional abilities to the highest level possible.
