Team Jamaica: Computer Literacy Program

Picture
http://www.gsjamaica.org/

The Jamaican team is focused on computer literacy; the goal is to develop a comprehensive training program to improve the technical skills of the Jamaican teachers on various computer related tasks, such as Microsoft office usage, printer troubleshooting, hardware troubleshooting, etc. Currently, the partner Jamaican teachers, in general, exhibit a low level of computer expertise. Thus, training teachers will increase the effectiveness and sustainability of the Jamaican school programs implemented by our NGO partner, Great Shape.

This past August, the team traveled to Jamaica for three weeks.  There they conducted computer literacy workshops, teaching Jamaican teachers basic and advanced computer skills.  The team hopes to travel again in January or next summer to train a select few to eventually serve as computer "experts" in the Jamaican school community.
